In 1999, Thomas Jefferson School of Law established three new centers of academic excellence: the Center for Global Legal Studies, the Center for Law, Technology and Communications and the Center for Law and Social Justice. The centers were created to take advantage of Thomas Jefferson's existing academic strengths. Each center addresses profound changes in our society that are giving rise to new fields of law, while rapidly transforming virtually all traditional areas of law practice.

The centers combine a substantial body of faculty research, a large collection of courses, speaker programs and colloquia, and links to employers in related fields.
