Women and Children's Rights in Haiti Conference
Friday, 12:30 - 6:00 p.m., CYB 200
This conference is sponsored by the TJSL and the Center for Global Legal Studies.
Speakers include Mr. Raymond Joseph, Haiti’s Ambassador to the United States; Deputy Rodon A. Bien-Aime, a member of the Haitian Parliament; Ms. Barbara Walker, head of the Reach Out to Haiti organization which provides assistance to homeless women, who will speak on prostitution in Haiti; Professor Mohamed Y. Mattar a world famous scholar on trafficking and the new trafficking law in Haiti and Vera Valdivia, a student from TJSL who helped organize the conference and is well versed in UNICEF's role in international adoptions in Haiti. Also speaking is the Director of the Center for Global Legal Studies, Professor Susan Tiefenbrun, who is one of the leading scholars in the field of human trafficking especially of women and children.
