July 06, 2006 SAN DIEGO -- Laura A. Weseley has joined the administration of the Thomas Jefferson School of Law on July 10 as the new Assistant Dean for Career Services. Weseley joins Thomas Jefferson from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles where she was the Associate Director of Career Services. She will be developing and implementing innovative career programs to increase employment opportunities for graduating law students at Thomas Jefferson, as she did at both Loyola and Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, where she was Assistant Director of Career Services. Laura Weseley earned her law degree at Brooklyn Law School, and practiced intellectual property law in New York and California for more than a decade. She entered career services counseling in 1998, and among her achievements is the development of a Government Fair at Loyola which exposed law students to opportunities for employment in the government sector, as well as a Judicial Clerkship program at Pepperdine through which she increased the number of law students who obtained clerkships by more than 400%. “It is an exciting time to be part of Thomas Jefferson School of Law as it continues to grow and evolve,” said Weseley. “The culture of Thomas Jefferson is also very much in line with my philosophy about legal education, that is -- to provide exceptional service to students and alumni, to stress practical training in the classroom, to foster a diverse student body, and to encourage all the departments in the law school to work together as a unified team,” she added. Thomas Jefferson’s Associate Dean Steve Semeraro said: “Laura Weseley has distinguished herself in the career services offices at both Pepperdine and Loyola (L.A.) as a creative thinker who knows how to uncover new employment opportunities for her students.”
