Annual Barrister’s Ball makes its way to Coronado on Friday, March 24

The Student Bar Association of the Thomas Jefferson School of Law invites all students, faculty, staff and alumni to attend this year’s Barrister’s Ball to be held at the lavish Loews Coronado Bay Resort on the evening of Friday, March 24, 2006. The festivities will kick off with a cocktail hour starting at 6:00 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m. The dinner includes complimentary wine and a cash bar along with music, dancing, and an overall relaxing and fun atmosphere.

The much anticipated highlight of the evening is the presentation of several “recognition” awards. The annual staple Golden Apple Awards will be announced to the winning professors as voted on by the students. The Charles T. Bumer Civil Libertarian Award – named after the late Charles “Ted” Bumer, a prominent criminal defense attorney and a long-time National Lawyers Guild member whose daughter Elizabeth is a TJSL alumna – will be presented to a TJSL student who best personifies the ideals to which Bumer devoted his life. Lastly, the Staff Member of the Year also will be announced, as well as the final award, the A. Thomas Golden Alum of the Year.

Tickets are on sale in the Courtyard on Wednesday, March 15, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Thursday, March 16, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The cost is $35 for students with ABA membership (card must be shown), $40 for non-ABA membership for students, and $60 for faculty, staff and alumni. Due to limited space, tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis. For more information, please send an e-mail to sba@tjsl.edu.
