Advanced Trial Advocacy (SD 291)

 

This course examines civil and criminal trial practice for the student whose plans for the future include courtroom litigation. The course will provide advanced training in each phase of trial, preparation of trial exhibits, written motions in limine, voir dire, opening statements and closing arguments, direct and cross examination, witness impeachment, and rehabilitation. Students will be evaluated on classroom exercises and participation, preparation, and performance. There will be two complete jury trials where each student performs as trial counsel. This course is graded non-anonymously Honors, Credit, Low Pass, No Credit. Honors designation will convert to a 4.0.
