Elder Law (SD 378)
This course introduces students to a broad range of doctrinal and policy issues in areas of the law that impact particularly strongly on older Americans. Subjects covered will include Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, long term care, guardianship, elder abuse, end of life decision making, and age discrimination in employment. Of particular concern will the be the impact of an aging American population on existing legal regimes and public programs. Additionally, the course will look at the particular ethical and professional issues raised by the provision of legal services to older clients.
