The Role of Small Business in Community Economic Development (SD 502)
This seminar introduces students to the role of small businesses in community economic development. Students will have the opportunity to tackle legal issues affecting for profit and non-profit organizations by interviewing micro-entrepreneurs about their legal problems and creating legal information seminars and manuals. Students in this course will develop and strengthen interviewing, counseling, legal research and drafting skills required of transactional lawyers. In lieu of a final, you will produce form contracts and practice guides to help micro-entrepreneurs navigate their legal problems. The written assignments in this course satisfy the law school's writing requirement.
