Ambassador Ross worked closely with Secretaries of State James Baker, Warren Christopher and Madeleine Albright.
According to student Derek Karpel, who attended the lecture: "
In this world, especially in academia, where Israel-bashing has become vogue, it was refreshing to hear from Dennis Ross, the man who actually negotiated with the leaders of the Palestinian and Israeli governments. He confirmed what those of us interested in the Middle East have known all along: that the Middle East peace process failed because Yasser Arafat was unable to redefine himself as a man of peace in order to bring stability and accountability to the region; that the Arab world has done little to effectively assist their Palestinian brothers; and finally, that under the leadership of the Bush administration, the U.S. has been conducting policy in that region based on faith-based-ideological assumptions versus reality driven ones."
After his lecture, Ambassador Ross signed copies of his
latest book.
