Terrie E. Roberts

As a Superior Court Commissioner for nearly five years, Commissioner Roberts has presided over thousands of criminal and civil matters in her courtroom and has distinguished herself as a leader on the bench by teaching Bench Conduct and Demeanor to Pro Tem Judges on behalf of the court for the past four years. In addition to her judicial experience, Commissioner Roberts brings a diverse and unique background to the classroom. She previously served as a Deputy District Attorney for seven years where she prosecuted serious crimes, including crimes committed by sexually violent predators. She also served as a Deputy Public Defender where she represented individuals with mental illnesses and drug and alcohol addictions. She has experience in the civil arena as well, having worked as a civil attorney where she handled complex business arbitration matters. Additionally, she managed her own law firm for six years, where she continued to handle civil matters as well as criminal defense matters.
While a prosecutor, Commissioner Roberts was recognized for her work and her commitment to the community when she received the San Diego County Bar Association’s Annual Award for Outstanding Service by a Public Attorney in May of 2008. Ms. Roberts remains active in the community by volunteering with a variety of organizations, including the Porter Elementary Reading Program, the Kids in Court Program and the San Diego County High School Mock Trial Program. She is married and is the mother of two daughters.
