European Union Law

This course examines the forces and concepts underlying European integration. Do the EU's foundational treaties, its structure and constitutional law constitute a new sovereignty? The functions and roles of EU institutions, the EU court system, law and sectorial policies, external relations and defense are also explored. Current policy issues and legal dynamics, and parallels between EU and US approaches to integration as well as EU-US relations are also examined.
