TJSL's new café is open for business!
Indigo Café's first customers lined up to sample the great new menu on Wednesday morning October 8.
TJSL brought in the fine restaurateur to take over the operation of our campus café in the Courtyard Building, after a careful selection process. The Indigo Café is serving a limited menu the first week and is expected to be fully operational in two-to-three weeks when a grand opening will be announced!
A big "thank you" goes to our new events coordinator, Kathryn Markey, who interviewed a wide variety of applicants and, along with other TJSL staff, sampled their food. Associate Dean Jeff Joseph also has assisted with the many details involved, including writing the contract.
Indigo's menu will offer a wide variety of affordable and freshly made food items and beverages, including fruit smoothies, and will have a coffee cart for those people who just want a quick caffeine boost. Breakfast burritos and quesadillas, wraps, sandwiches, a variety of salads and soups, and an interesting line-up of daily specials are among the tasty items Indigo will offer Monday through Friday during the semester.
The regular menu will be available for viewing on the TJSL website. Daily specials will be announced in The Advisor and on the touch screens.
Indigo Café & Catering currently operates at two locations. The one in Kearny Mesa at 9353 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. has a casual walk-up-to-the-counter ordering system, while the other, in downtown San Diego at 1435 6th Ave., is a full-service operation open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Indigo also has a full-service catering operation, which will be convenient for TJSL's many events! In fact, Indigo has already catered several events, including the August reception for our entering students.
Please join us in welcoming Indigo Café to our campus!
