The Externship Experience
TJSL student Jakgeem Mays has landed a full-time externship for the spring semester with the Screen Actors Guild, the nation's largest labor union representing actors. He will work directly with SAG attorneys in Los Angeles on issues likely to include arbitration of grievances pursuant to the collective bargaining agreements, bankruptcy, employment, intellectual property, entertainment, corporate and tax. Last summer Jakgeem worked at Fox, so he is well on his way towards realizing his dreams of a distinguished career in entertainment law. .

Jakgeem Mays, a rising 2L student, has landed a summer internship with Fox Digital Media, a division of Fox Entertainment Group dedicated to setting distribution strategy and licensing programming to new digital outlets. Jakgeem will deal with rights and clearances, licensing agreements, distribution agreements, program licensing, and distribution strategy.
Fox Entertainment Group, a unit of News Corporation, is principally engaged in the development, production and worldwide distribution of feature films and television programs, television broadcasting and cable network programming.
Prior to law school, Jakgeem worked in the entertainment business, including stints with Sony Music, Arista Records, EMI Music Publishing and Songwriting/Production for Artists, Film, and Television. He has also worked in the financial industry with the likes of Goldman Sachs.
