Ceremony Honors Law Student Marine Wounded in Iraq Last Month
First Lieutenant Paul “P.J.” Croom, who was assigned to the Second Marine Infantry Division in Iraq, suffered significant burns to his forearms and less serious burns to his face in an explosion that killed six fellow Marines last month, a month in which a recent Copley News Service report says Marine casualties spiked after three months of relatively low casualties.

Thomas Jefferson School of Law honored first-year law student with a special certificate of appreciation on Monday, June 6th, at 1:30 p.m. in the CYB Courtyard. Lt. Croom, who was wounded May 11 in Iraq when the amphibious assault vehicle in which he was riding struck an explosive device. The vehicle caught fire, causing all the ordnance inside to explode. Six Marines died and nine were injured seriously enough to be evacuated back to the U.S. for treatment and convalescent. TJSL presented a certificate of appreciation to this young Marine who was wounded in the line of duty while serving his country.
Lt. Croom is one of several Thomas Jefferson School of Law students who have been called to duty since the conflict in Iraq began.
