The Mock Trial Program allows students to compete in simulated trials while being evaluated by judges and practitioners. Students examine witnesses, lodge objections, and argue to a jury. The Mock Trial Team has done very well in regional and national competitions.
For instance, the Thomas Jefferson Mock Trial Team swept past 22 teams from other law schools, including Harvard and Georgetown, to capture second place at the National Criminal Justice Trial Advocacy Competition, narrowly missing first place in a split 3-2 decision. Thomas Jefferson also took home the first place trophy at the ABA Employment Law Division Competition and reached the final round undefeated to take second place at the Texas Young Lawyers Association West Coast Regional Trial Competition.
