The Moot Court Team competes in appellate advocacy competitions. The students are evaluated on the persuasiveness of their written briefs and oral advocacy by judges and practitioners.

Bankruptcy Moot Court Team Honored in NYC 

A Thomas Jefferson team once again won the prize for the Best Memorial (brief) in English at the 2006 Annual Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court Competition in Washington, D.C., marking the third time in the last four years that a Thomas Jefferson team has won in that category. The Thomas Jefferson Moot Court Team also qualified as one of the top 20 teams in the nation to compete at the American Bar Association National Appellate Advocacy Competition in Chicago. To get to the finals, the team bested a crowded regional field from all over the country and also received the award for "Second Best Brief."

Dana Heitz and Hassan Sadeghi have been selected as the TJSL team for the 2007 Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court Competition.  This trilingual competition will be held at the Washington College of Law at American University in Washington D.C. next May.
 
At the Pace National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition in New York, the Thomas Jefferson team made the quarterfinals, beating 45 teams from across the nation and earning three "Best Oralist" awards. The Thomas Jefferson team also made it to the semifinal round at the Luke Charles Memorial Civil Rights Competition at Howard University.
