TJSL Students at The Hague

There are three Thomas Jefferson School of Law students and one alumna currently doing internships at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague, Netherlands.
Doug Mallet, Taylor Olson, Sarah Hudson and Meera Patel ’10 are all in The Hague right now, working for the prestigious international court.
“Everything at the ICTY is going great,” says Doug Mallet. “The ICTY internship has provided me with an opportunity to learn a great deal about international law and at the same time be a part of a case with great historical significance. It’s great to see many of the international law theories I’ve learned at TJSL in action in a very real setting.”
According to its official website: ICTY is a United Nations court of law dealing with war crimes that took place during the conflicts in the Balkans in the 1990’s. Since its establishment in 1993 it has irreversibly changed the landscape of international humanitarian law and provided victims an opportunity to voice the horrors they witnessed and experienced.
