Elizabeth Knowles Receives Cal. Bar Found. Rosenthal Scholarship
- 3L Elizabeth Knowles
Preparing for the bar exam has become a little bit easier for 3L Elizabeth Knowles, who is one the few law students in California to receive the Rosenthal Bar Exam Scholarship.
The scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate a strong commitment toward the public interest sector, and it rewards such students by covering the costs of their California Bar/Bri Bar Exam review courses, which is valued at more than $3,500. Knowles is the first student from TJSL to ever receive the Rosenthal Scholarship award.
“I am honored and extremely thankful for this generous award and recognition of my commitment to public service," said Knowles. "Though the scholarship serves to relieve a great financial burden, it means much more. This award is further encouragement for me to strive to be a public interest attorney of the highest caliber after graduation and says to me that the Cal Bar Foundation believes in my future success."
The scholarship is one of the only programs in the country that helps public interest law students with bar exam expenses. Since 1997, the California Bar Foundation has supported almost 250 graduating law students through the Rosenthal Bar Exam Scholarship Program alone. It has awarded more than $3.5 million in scholarships to law students who have demonstrated a commitment to public service, academic excellence, and financial need.
