2006 Alum Michael Carey has landed his dream job as an Associate Attorney with NapoliBernRipkaShkolnik, LLP in their Orange County office. NapoliBern is based out of Manhattan and has offices all over the country. They concentrate on complex litigation on behalf of injured victims and have successfully obtained over 3 Billion in verdicts and settlements.
Carey’s passion to protect injured victims began in undergraduate school when he worked as a file clerk for his father, who was a plaintiff's attorney. There he experience first-hand how attorneys can really help the victims of corporate greed. “My father was not only my hero, but also the hero to many people who suffered disabling injuries as a result of defective products and/or negligent practices of others. I knew then, that I wanted to follow my father’s path.”
Carey credits his time clerking in plaintiff’s law firms while in school for developing the skills he needed to pursue his career path, such as preparing motions and participating in high value jury trials. He also credits Career Services. “Ms. Beverly Bracker and all of Career Services were invaluable in beginning my career path. Not only did they help me prepare my resume pack and revise my writing samples, they also helped me find leads in this extremely competitive Southern California market.”
After graduation, Carey focused on high-end complex tort litigation in the areas of product liability, personal injury, negligence, and civil rights litigation where he continued to developed his litigation skills managing all aspects of litigation. A substantial portion of his work has involved tire delamination/belt tread separation cases in the Winston/Cooper tire Judicial Council Coordination Proceedings.
Carey is thrilled to start his new position working in toxic torts, especially asbestos litigation. “NapoliBern is providing me with the opportunity to protect the rights of victims of asbestos exposure, while also working under some of the best litigators in California.
I want to learn from the best and hopefully develop into one of the best litigators in the state.”
Congratulations from everyone in the TJSL family, we wish you continued success! For more information, visit NapoliBern.
