Alumnus Peter W. Singer ‘86 Sworn-In as San Diego Superior Court Commissioner

Thomas Jefferson School of Law Alumnus Peter W. Singer ‘86, was sworn-in on Monday, July 13, 2015, as San Diego Superior Court’s newest Court Commissioner. “I am humbled and honored to have been selected out of 139 attorney applicants,” said Commissioner Singer. “I look forward to many years of giving back to the community that has been so good to me in my 28 years of private practice.” 

Since 1992, Commissioner Singer worked as a San Diego Superior Court ProTem Judge, Criminal and Civil Departments, in the East County and Central divisions. He was sworn-in on Monday afternoon after a majority of the Court Bench approved his hiring on July 7th.

A commissioner is an attorney selected by the judges of the court and given powers to hear and make decisions concerning certain legal matters, including family and juvenile court cases, as well as criminal, traffic, small claims, and unlawful detainer cases.

Commissioner Singer has been a general practice attorney since 1987 with experience in transactional and civil litigation matters, administrative hearings, and criminal defense.  Singer graduated from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 1986 and Rutgers University in 1980.
