Justice Richard Goldstone, Former Justice of the Constitutional Court of South Africa, has accepted our invitation to be the 2005 Jefferson Lecturer on November 10, 2005. The 2005 Jefferson Lecture is titled, "The South African Constitutional Court: It's First Ten Years." He will speak on campus in the Courtyard Building from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Room 200. Following the lecture will be a reception in his honor.

The Daily Transcript presented its inaugural edition of its Top Attorneys this month. Top Attorneys 2005 is the result of over 6,000 San Diego County lawyers who were asked to nominate legal peers they thought were worthy of the title. Professor K.J. Greene was voted as a finalist in Intellectual Property.

Ceremony Honors Law Student Marine Wounded in Iraq Last Month
Thomas Jefferson School of Law honored first-year law student Lt. Paul "P.J" Croom. Lt. Croom was wounded on May 11 in Iraq when the amphibious assault vehicle in which he was riding struck an explosive device.

This year’s ceremony honored not only the 180 graduates who are eligible to receive their juris doctor degrees, but also two summa cum laude valedictorians and two remarkable individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the law school.

Volunteer Income Tax Association (VITA) is back!
Every spring the Tax Law Society operates the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. The purpose of VITA is to provide FREE income tax return services to the San Diego community, including students and seniors. VITA will be open every Saturday and Sunday beginning on February 19, 2005 and ending on April 10, 2005. The hours of operation will be from 9 am to 12:30 pm. The VITA office is located in the student lounge in the Courtyard Building.
