Solo Law Practice Management

Designed to help the student prepare to open their own law practice after being admitted to the bar. The course will address various practice management and ethical issues including: competence, client acquisition and marketing, client interaction, office procedures, record keeping, office technology, billing, finances, trust accounts and related issues. Students will prepare a “starter kit” notebook which will serve as their roadmap to opening their practice. That notebook will reflect the student’s work product on several assignments. Each student will also give an oral presentation defending his or her proposal to open a practice and will be expected to participate in class discussions. There is significant overlap with “Law Practice Management.” A student should not take both courses. Prerequisite: 3rd year status.
