Student-Sponsored Activity at Thomas Jefferson School of Law:
Lt. Ehren Watada’s Father to Appear at Thomas Jefferson School of Law

SAN DIEGO- On Monday October 16, 2006 the father of U.S. Army First Lieutenant Ehren Watada will address law students at Thomas Jefferson School of Law.
In June 2006, Ehren Watada became the first commissioned officer to refuse deployment to the Iraq war. His father Bob Watada will speak to the students from 4:30-5:50 p.m. on Monday in Room 300 of the Thomas Jefferson School of Law Library Building, 2121 San Diego Avenue in Old Town.
First Lt. Watada is facing a general court-martial on several charges relating to his refusal to deploy to Iraq, including conduct un-becoming to an officer and contempt toward President Bush. Watada faces a maximum of seven years imprisonment if convicted.
This event is sponsored by the Thomas Jefferson School of Law Student Chapter of the National Lawyer’s Guild. The NLG's advisor is Professor Marjorie Cohn, who will be srown in this week as president of the national organization.
