Former U.N. Under-Secretary-General Hans Corell
to Speak at Thomas Jefferson School of Law
Will Lecture on Issue of United Nations Reform

SAN DIEGO--On Tuesday November 14th, and Wednesday November 15th, Ambassador Hans Corell, former United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Chief UN Legal Officer from 1994 to 2004, will appear at two events at Thomas Jefferson School of Law.
On Tuesday, 11/14, Ambassador Corell will present a lecture: "U.N. Reform: Who Needs Reforming the Most - the U.N. or its Members?" in Room 300 of the Law Library Building, 2121 San Diego Avenue from 11:30 a.m. to 12:50 p.m.
On Wednesday, 11/15, Ambassador Corell will participate in a Luncheon Question & Answer Session with students and invited guests in Room 200 of the Courtyard Building, 2120 San Diego Avenue, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. The luncheon’s major sponsors are the American Society of International Law U.N. Section and Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps LLP.
Ambassador Corell’s perspective on the United Nations is not only valuable because of his long experience with the organization, but is very timely as the U.N. faces major challenges as to its effectiveness such as the North Korea’s nuclear testing program.
A native of Sweden, Hans Corell is a legal expert and international consultant, who as the Chief Legal Counsel for the United Nations, was responsible for the overall direction, management and coordination of legal advice and services to the U.N. as a whole.
Co-sponsors of these events are: Thomas Jefferson School of Law’s International Society, the San Diego County Bar Association International Law Section, the University of California San Diego Student Legal Services and the United Nations Association of San Diego.
