When:  Friday, November 10, 6 – 8 p.m.

SAN DIEGO --The Thomas Jefferson School of Law Criminal Law Society is presenting “Jury Selection 101,” a special seminar by jury expert Toni Blake, J.D., M.A., on Friday November 10, from 6-8 p.m. in Room 200 of the law school’s Courtyard Building, 2120 San Diego Avenue.

The outcome of legal cases, whether criminal or civil in nature, is dependant upon the people sitting in the jury box. How they perceive the witnesses, the arguments and the client’s defendant either make or break the case.

The difficulty for lawyers is selecting the right members of the jury because they must understand how the evidence, expert opinions and witness testimonies play into the underlying events of the case. If the jury doesn’t connect, can’t relate or simply doesn’t understand the case, you’re fighting a losing battle.

Among Toni Blake’s career achievements and area of expertise:

• Juris Doctorate
• Masters in Cognitive Social Psychology
• Associate Professor of Psychology
• Television Commentator
• Extensive research background in jury decision-making and
   cognitive   psychology in the courtroom
• Published author of books and articles
• Selected juries in over 300 cases
• High-profile cases have appeared on Court TV, Dateline, 20/20, and other international media outlets and television shows.

Completion of this free course is worth two hours of MCLE credit. Those wishing to sign up for the course should RSVP to betchepare@tjsl.edu by Wednesday, November 8 **
