Ambassador Hans Corell, former U.N. Under-Secretary-General and chief U.N. legal officer from 1994 to 2004, will appear Wednesday at the Thomas Jefferson School of Law.

He will participate in a luncheon question-and-answer session with students and invited guests in Room 200 of the Courtyard Building, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:50 p.m.
The luncheon's major sponsors are the American Society of International Law U.N. Section and Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps LLP.

Ambassador Corell's perspective on the United Nations is very timely as the U.N. faces major challenges regarding its effectiveness in matters such as North Korea's nuclear-testing program.

A native of Sweden, Corell is a legal expert and international consultant who, as the chief legal counsel for the United Nations, was responsible for the overall direction, management and coordination of legal advice and services to the United Nations as a whole.
