Kim Kirkpatrick Wins Prestigious Honor

Thomas Jefferson School of Law third-year student Kim Kirkpatrick has been awarded the Bonnie Reading Memorial Scholarship by the San Diego Certified Family Law Specialists.  The scholarship is awarded to a student who plans to practice family law in the San Diego area, and is a very prestigious award within the local family law bar.  Kim beat out stiff competition from a number of highly qualified students from our sister schools here in San Diego.

“This is a particularly impressive achievement, because the people making the determination are the most accomplished family lawyers in the County,” said Thomas Jefferson Professor Steve Berenson.  “In Kim’s case, the award is in recognition not only of her academic achievements, but also of her demonstrated commitment to helping children and families in San Diego County.”

"I have heard such wonderful things about Ms. Reading and although I did not have the opportunity to meet her, her settlement/negotiation approach to Family Law practice is something I hope to emulate, said Kirkpatrick.  "I am truly honored to receive an award named in her honor. The Certified Family Law Specialists of San Diego County are an extraordinary group of attorneys and I hope to have the privilege of joining them in the future."
