SAN DIEGO— The campus of Thomas Jefferson School of Law in the historic community of Old Town here has undergone a comprehensive re-landscaping to tie together the exterior planters around the law school’s Spanish-style buildings in the 21-hundred block of San Diego Avenue: the Law Library Building, the Courtyard Building, and the recently acquired building at 2147 San Diego Avenue that was formerly owned by Melhorn Construction and now houses some of the school's administrative offices.

The purpose of the landscaping project is to give the campus, which has operated at that location since 1983, a more cohesive look and to spruce up the southern neighborhood of Old Town on San Diego Avenue. Using several existing plants, the re-landscaping includes 19 different types of plants, trees, and ground cover in all, including birds of paradise, gardenias, azaleas, carmellia japonica, and kentia, king, lady, and pygmy dark palm trees. The re-landscaping project began on December 21, 2005, and will be completed in time for the first day of the spring semester classes, which begin today. “I am very pleased that the School has completed plans for a comprehensive re-landscaping of the planting areas around all of its buildings,” said Dean Rudy Hasl. "We wanted to create a more attractive environment for our students as well as for our neighbors and visitors to this very special community of Old Town San Diego."

The developer of the landscaping plan is Jennifer King, the owner of Design Connection. The contractor is Extraordinary Landscaping, owned and operated by Jennifer Roberts.

Thomas Jefferson School of Law has more than 5,000 graduates and is fully accredited by the American Bar Association, the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
