SBA forCrest Fire Victims Relief; ELS Food Drive

The Student Bar Association (SBA) at Thomas Jefferson has committed itself to assisting fire victims from the community of Crest in San Diego's east county. Crest was especially hard hit by the fire. Many people lost homes.

From now until the end of the semester, the SBA is collecting items to assist the victims. The Red Cross has supplied a list of needed items: baseball caps; medical supplies (Band-aids; Aspirin; Neosporin); rubber gloves; brooms; batteries (AA; D); flashlights; can openers; deodorant; detergent; dish soap; duct tape; extension cords; eye protection; feminine hygiene products; gas cans; Gatorade; generators; Handy Wipes; men's socks; blankets; non-perishable foods; paper towels; pillows (new only); radios; clocks (battery operated); rain gear; ponchos; rakes; rye grass seed; storage containers; toiletries; tools; towels; washcloths; water; water hoses; wheelbarrows; winter stocking caps and work gloves (leather).

Boxes will be placed in the student lounge to collect these much needed items. TJSL has given from the heart in the past and will do so again. Additionally, volunteers from the SBA will deliver Thanksgiving meals to shut-ins in the Thomas Jefferson neighborhoods.

The Environmental Law Society (ELS) continues its good work with the 2nd Annual Holiday Food Drive. Last year's drive was a big success. This year is also looking good for pitching in to help San Diego's less fortunate. Collection points are the entrance to the library and the first floor of the Courtyard Building.

La Raza and the Family Law Society are joining forces to aid the Adopt-a-Family program. This year they are a adopting a newly relocated family of 4: a single mom working on a nursing degree and her 3 children. They need:
