The documentary Mardi Gras: Made in China was shown at a special screening at the Thomas Jefferson School of Law on Friday February 23rd.

It was standing room only as students, faculty and staff came to view the award-winning film which, shows the links between the ubiquitous Mardi Gras beads and the female factory workers who manufacture them in China. The contrast between the stark factory conditions and the reveling in the streets of New Orleans is dramatic.

Those in attendance were also privileged to be able to hear in person from David Redmonthe film’s director David Redmon on the making of Mardi Gras: Made in China.

The screening  was organized by Professor Susan Bisom-Rapp and the Center for Law and Social Justice.
