Thomas Jefferson’s Black Law Students Association welcomed San Diego County Deputy District Attorney Terrie Roberts on February 27th, to speak to students about the strides that her office is making towards diversity.

Roberts also spoke to students about how to be a successful law student and then translate that success into a career with the District Attorney’s office.

Roberts, who works in the Sexual Assault and Stalking Division, informed students that hey should be less worried about passing the bar, which for many is two years away and more concerned about taking advantage of opportunities presented by the school such as moot court, mock trial and law review.

After graduating, Roberts expressed that gaining a job in the district attorney’s office is more common for people of color now because San Diego County District Attorney and Thomas Jefferson alumna, Bonnie Dumanis, is making it a point to recruit successful minorities.
