Thomas Jefferson wins moot court event

The Thomas Jefferson moot court society team won the Roger J. Traynor trophy as the top oral argument team at Boalt Hall, University of California Berkeley Law School event April 14-15.
The Thomas Jefferson team of Diana Elston, Clayton Griessmeyer and Joesph Visic beat a strong McGeorge School of Law team in the final. Elston and Griessmeyer argued before a distinguished panel, including former associate justice of the California Supreme Court, Joseph R. Grodin, and former presiding justice of the 1st District Court of Appeal, Carl W. Anderson. Elston also was recognized as outstanding oralist in Saturday's competition.
Thomas Jefferson, coached by Melissa Dorko and Shaun McGrady, beat teams from 12 other California law schools, including teams from UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UCLA, Hastings and USC.
"The victory was a team effort and culminated a fine year for the moot court society, which has shown that its members are hard working, committed and competitive with the best law school teams in the country," said Paul J. Spiegelman, Thomas Jefferson's director of advocacy and ADR programs and moot court society advisor.
Thomas Jefferson's moot court team last won the Traynor Trophy in 1997.
