Thomas Jefferson School of Law Hosts Ethics Seminar and Silent Auction to Support Public Interest Law Students
Stresses Civility and Professionalism Among Attorneys
WHAT: “Civil Litigation: Why Can’t We All Just Get Along?”
WHEN: Friday, April 27 5:00 pm – 6:00 PM
WHERE: Thomas Jefferson School of Law
2120 San Diego Ave San Diego, CA
Courtyard Building, Room 101
Presenters: Associate Dean Jeff Joseph and Professor Steve Berenson
The focus will be on the Sate Bar of California Litigation Section’s Model Code of Civility and Professionalism. More particularly, through a series of hypothetical case scenarios, the seminar will explore some of the more controversial of the Model Code’s provisions and use the hypotheticals to support a more general discussion of the need (or lack thereof) for additional regulation relating to lawyer civility and professionalism, the proper approach to take to such regulation, among other concerns.
Thomas Jefferson School of Law is a State Bar of California approved MCLE provider. This program will qualify for Minimum Continuing Legal Education credit by the State Bar of California in the amount of one (1) hour.
PILF Silent/Live Auction: 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm Courtyard
Following the MCLE event, the Public Interest Law Foundation (PILF), a nonprofit student organization dedicated to raising awareness among law students of the value of making a commitment to public service legal work, will be hosting its annual Silent/Live Auction Fundraiser. Proceeds from the auction go toward funding grants which support qualifying TJSL students who pursue unpaid internships in the public interest sector.
Items for bid include gift certificates to many local businesses, week long condo vacations, a yacht excursion with Dean Hasl, a beach cruiser, sports memorabilia, art work and jewelry, and much more!
During the auction there will be complimentary wine and appetizers as well as live music.
