August 02, 2006 Susan Tinsky, a first-year student at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, has been selected to travel to Edinburgh, Scotland, this September to participate in the prestigious 2006 Tri-Country Conference of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO), a national lobbying and advocacy organization. The bi-annual conference is a collaborative effort of NAHRO and its sister-organizations in Canada (Canadian Housing and Renewal Association, or CHRA) and the UK (the Charter Institute of Housing in the United Kingdom). Each conference is hosted by one of the organizations who also select a timely and pertinent theme. This year's theme is “Building Socially and Economically Mixed Communities." “The conference discussions will focus on the various issues that must be addressed to make these types of communities possible and viable,” said Tinsky, who was selected by NAHRO for the scholarship which will enable her to attend the conference. “Each country is allowed to designate 25 individuals to represent its interests and the delegates are competively selected based on their expertise and ability to contribute to the dialogue,” she added. “I am extremely excited to participate in the conference,” Tinsky said. “It is a wonderful opportunity for me to interact with and learn from seasoned housing and community development professionals from the three countries. The experience should broaden my understanding of issues in the field, while challenging me to look at these issues from different perspectives.”
