A majority of Thomas Jefferson students come from outside of California and do not have familial ties in San Diego. As a result, the law school places great importance on creating a campus community that will provide a supportive environment for students. The Student Services Office recognizes the value of making entering students’ transitions to law school a smooth process by organizing social events prior to the start of classes. Such events include a breakfast during orientation, and lunch or dinner with student leaders, faculty, and staff. These events also provide students with an opportunity to socialize with their peers. Additionally, the office organizes various events through the first few weeks of classes, such as the Vendor Fair where representatives from a wide variety of businesses highlight their services to students. Other events include various student organization fairs, welcome picnics, ice cream socials, club rush, midterm break snacks and massages, food for thought during finals week, an annual Halloween and Luau Party, and wine and cheese receptions.

The office is maintained by Director Lisa Ferreira and Associate Julie Garrett. The office is open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Student Services staff is here to assist you in any way they can. Please feel free to call or send an e-mail.
