Thomas Jefferson School of Law Elects New Trustee
Newest Board Member is Respected Federal Magistrate
SAN DIEGO -The Thomas Jefferson Board of Trustees has elected a new
member, U.S. Magistrate William McCurine, Jr.
Magistrate McCurine is a native of Chicago, received his B.A. from Dartmouth College, studied at Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar and graduated from Harvard Law School.
Mr. McCurine was a partner at Gray, Cary, Ware & Friedenrich, and later at Solomon, Ward, Seidenwurm & Smith, before he was appointed to the federal bench in 2004.
He was named one of America’s best trial lawyers in 2001 and was presented with the Thurgood Marshall Award by the Earl B. Gilliam Bar Association.
“Judge McCurine will be a spectacular addition to the Board because of his reputation within the San Diego legal community and his involvement on the issues of diversity within the profession,” said Thomas Jefferson School of Law Dean Rudy Hasl. “As a school that now has a substantial enrollment of students of color, he will be very helpful in creating connections for our students within the legal community.”
The chair of the Thomas Jefferson School of Law Board of Trustees is Samuel J. Kahn, Chief Executive Officer of Kent Holdings & Affiliates.
