July 21, 2006 San Diego's Daily Transcript newspaper has published its annual list of Top Attorneys for 2006 - those attorneys considered to be the best and brightest in San Diego's legal arena as determined by their peers. Five Thomas Jefferson School of Law's professors made the list of 13 Academics finalists selected from among the three ABA accredited San Diego law schools! The finalists from Thomas Jefferson School of Law are: Professor Linda Berger, Professor Marjorie Cohn, Professor Julie Greenberg, Professor Marybeth Herald and Professor Ken Vandevelde. The finalists were announced on July 20 in a special 32 page supplement in the Daily Transcript. The Thomas Jefferson professors were selected by their peers who made the list of 63 semifinalists in the Top Attorneys Academics category. Each semifinalist was allowed 10 votes, although there actally are 13 finalists in the Academics category because of vote ties. More congratulations are in order. The law school's new Associate Dean, Jeffrey Joseph, made the Top Attorneys Finalist list for Municipal/Governmental Law in recognition of his work as the former Deputy Chief Counsel for the California Department of Transportation's (CALTRANS) Legal Department in San Diego. Four members of Thomas Jefferson School of Law's alumni also are Top Attorneys Finalists in various categories! They are: Laurie Axford (1992) of Gordon & Rees LLP and Terry Meador (1979) of Incaplaw in the IP Transactional Law category; Michael Dullea (1975) of Old Republic Title Company in the Real Estate & Construction Litigation category; and Rebecca Mowbray (1986) of Dunk & Associates in the Insurance Law category. All of the finalists will be recognized at an awards reception hosted by the Daily Transcript on August 9.
