Anti-Terror Expert at TJSL

Judge Jean-Louis Bruguière, an internationally recognized expert on anti-terrorism is the featured speaker at "Trans-Atlantic Cooperation in the Fight Against Terrorism" a conference being held Friday, February 12.

TJSL Fundraiser for Orphanage

Join our Fundraiser event for Haiti on February 12, 2010. Vera Valdivia will be here at TJSL IN PERSON to make a presentation on the current situation in Haiti. Funds will be raised to help Vera to alleviate the suffering of people in Haiti and to rebuild her orphanage.

Noted IP Scholar Joins TJSL

Thomas Jefferson School of Law is proud to announce that Brenda Simon, a highly respected scholar in the fields of Patent and Biotechnology Law, has accepted the school's offer to join the Thomas Jefferson faculty as of the Fall 2010 semester. Simon joins an extraordinarily strong group of intellectual property faculty at Thomas Jefferson that provides relevant professional experience as well as substantial scholarly and curricular focus in this hot legal area.

Faculty Scholarship in Top 10

Thomas Jefferson School of Law has been ranked in the top 100 at number 67 among 200 U.S. law schools in the latest Social Science Research Network (SSRN) survey, which tracks faculty scholarship. TJSL also finished as number 8 among law schools based in California, surpassing many longer established but less productive law faculties.

Torture Conference at TJSL

"We are here to dispel the myth that the U.S doesn't torture," said Professor Susan Tiefenbrun, the organizer of the conference "Torture in and by the United States," held at Thomas Jefferson School of Law on January 29.

Grand Staircase Arrives

The four sections of the grand, curving multi-level staircase which will greet visitors to the lobby of the new Thomas Jefferson School of Law downtown campus has been delivered to the construction site.  When fully assembled, the staircase will be 60 feet tall and will connect the first, second and third floors of the building.

2L is Peggy Browning Fellow

Thomas Jefferson School of Law 2L Dea Franck has been selected for the highly distinguished Peggy Browning Fellowship and becomes the first TJSL student ever to be selected for this honor. The Peggy Browning Fellowship is a prestigious national fellowship program in labor/employment law and Franck's fellowship this summer will be with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) Division of Judges in San Francisco.

High Court Cites Cohn Book

Thomas Jefferson School of Law Professor Marjorie Cohn's book Cameras in the Courtroom:  Television and the Pursuit of Justice (co-authored by veteran broadcast journalist David Dow) is cited on page 7 of the dissenting opinion in the Jan. 13, 2010, U.S. Supreme Court decision on the televising of the Proposition 8 civil non-jury trial.
