Ganci Honored

The San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA) officially presented its 2011 Service Award winners on Tuesday, May 3, and 2008 TJSL graduate Eric Ganci brought home the award for “Outstanding Service by a New Lawyer.”

Each year the SDCBA recognizes distinguished individuals and organizations for exceptional service to the San Diego Community.  Ganci was selected this year for providing outstanding service to the SDCBA and its New Lawyers Division and demonstrating a significant commitment to serving the legal community.

Ganci received his engraved award at the SDCBA’s Law Week Luncheon & Celebration of Community Service at the Westin San Diego.  Among his TJSL supporters at the luncheon were:  his wife Renee Galente ’08, Associate Dean Jeff Joseph, Assistant Deans Karen Goyette and Lori Wulfemeyer, Career Services Director Beverly Bracker, Admissions Director Tim Spearman, Nory Pascua ’98, Philip Shapiro ’85 and third-year student Elizabeth Ashton, who is the SBA Alumni Relations representative to the TJSL Alumni Association.

This marks the second year in a row a TJSL graduate has been recognized by the SDCBA with one of its prestigious service awards.  In 2010, Anna Romanskaya ’07 of Stark & D’Ambrosio won the “Service to Legal Education” award, which recognizes outstanding work in the field of legal education, as a professional educator, part-time educator or volunteer.  TJSL Professors Marjorie Cohn and Susan Tiefenbrun also have been honored with the “Service to Legal Education” award in recent years.

TJSL alumnus Doc Anthony Anderson III ’93 had a key role in this year’s program as the Chair of the Awards Committee.   Also, TJSL Adjunct Professor Marissa Bejarano of the Attorney General’s Office was recognized with the “Service by a Public Attorney Award,” which is presented to an individual who demonstrates a combination of excellence in the practice of law with service to the community, the profession, the SDCBA or legal education.
