Aaron Hicks is originally from Nashville, Tennessee. He received his B.A. degree from the University of Tennessee – majoring in Sociology with an emphasis in Criminal Justice. Mr. Hicks then served two years in the business world in management before packing up and heading out to San Diego, California to attend Thomas Jefferson School of Law, where he earned his J.D. degree in 2004. Upon passing the California Bar exam, Mr. Hicks began honing his legal skills as an associate attorney at a civil law firm in San Diego. While there, Mr. Hicks represented many hospitals and health care facilities throughout California on a variety of challenging legal issues and cases.
Proving himself in this endeavor, and wanting to put his Criminal Justice education to task, Mr. Hicks accepted an offer to become an associate at a criminal defense law firm in Irvine, California. After several years, using the experience and knowledge that he had gained from working as a criminal defense attorney in the Orange County area of Southern California, Mr. Hicks opened his own law firm in San Diego where he practiced personal injury as well as criminal defense. Mr. Hicks made a decision to move his family to Nashville, Tennessee to be closer to his family. While in Tennessee, Mr. Hicks opened his own law firm focusing on personal injury and criminal defense.
Mr. Hicks had an opportunity to join the law firm of Rizio & Nelson. After many discussions with his family, he chose to move back to California. At Rizio & Nelson, he would be exclusively practicing personal injury for clients severely injured in automobile/motorcycle accidents, product liability, and other acts of negligence. This was a good fit for Mr. Hicks who has the experience to provide legal representation to someone injured by someone else. Knowing how the criminal defense system worked was a pivotal part of blending his extensive criminal defense experience with his personal injury experience, which makes Mr. Hicks an asset to Rizio & Nelson.
Mr. Hicks is a member of the Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC), Consumer Attorneys of the Inland Empire (CAOIE), Orange County Trial Lawyers Association, American Association of Justice, Riverside County Bar Association, and the Orange County Bar Association and has a Superb rating with AVVO.
Mr. Hicks is married with a 3-year-old daughter. He enjoys spending time with family, friends, and his yellow lab, Cali. He is active in his church, enjoys spending time at the beach or on hikes. You can usually find him cheering on the Vols – loudly – when Tennessee is playing football.
