Ben Aguilar, a 2011 TJSL graduate, attended the 25th Anniversary Gala Dinner of Equal Justice Works (EJW) on October 20, 2011 at the JW Marriot Hotel in Washington, D.C. The event raised over 2.7 million dollars to support public interest and featured the Honorable Eric Holder, Attorney General of the United States, and Governor Deval Patrick of Massachusetts. Both keynote speakers celebrated the organization’s long-standing commitment to public interest law.

Ben represents Thomas Jefferson School of Law as a member of the EJW National Advisory Committee, where he lends his insight and recommendations to help EJW reach its goal of having law students develop a lifelong commitment to working on behalf of underrepresented individuals, communities and causes. As a Committee member, Ben also took part in the 2011 Equal Justice Works Conference and Career Fair on October 21-22, 2011, which brings together more than 1,000 public interest law students from 200 law schools all under one roof.

As a law student, Ben was the President of the International Law Society and involved in various student organizations, including Law Students for Reproductive Justice, Phi Alpha Delta and the National Lawyers Guild. He also served as the American Bar Association’s 9th Circuit Lieutenant Governor of Communications. For more information about Equal Justice Works, please visit www.equaljusticeworks.org.
