Amanda handles employment law and civil litigation matters at her firm, Heeder | Thompson, which she opened in 2011. Amanda’s passion for employment law matters arose during her work at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s San Diego office during and following law school. There, she assisted with high profile cases including matters of sexual harassment, discrimination based on race, national origin, disability, and religion, as well as age discrimination cases. Prior to opening her firm, Amanda spent several years practicing civil litigation defense, including cases alleging personal injury, products liability, premises liability, and construction defect.
Amanda received her B.A. from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, and received her J.D. from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 2007. Amanda is actively involved in the local legal community. In addition to her recent election to the TJSL Alumni Association Board of Directors, Amanda serves as an elected Director on the New Lawyers Division Board of Directors for the San Diego County Bar Association as well as serving as a project leader for the Community Outreach Committee of Lawyers Club of San Diego, which organizes and fundraises for community service projects performed by local lawyers and other volunteers throughout the year.
