Alumni Services

The Alumni Relations Team provide services that help our alumni succeed and that strengthen the relationship between our alumni, the school and future generations of law students. The following services have been developed through input from our alumni.


Online Community: A free, password protected opportunity for alumni to stay connected with over 6,000 alumni.


TJSL E-mail Account Privileges: Starting the date of your graduation you will be given 2 years of access to your TJSL e-mail account. After the 2 year mark your TJSL e-mail account will automatically be deactivated. Be sure to keep us updated with your new contact information by filling out the alumni contact form


Career Services: The Career Services office provides a wide array of assistance to TJSL alumni in their search for employment, whether you are looking for your first lawyer job or a mid-career change. Current employment opportunities are posted through Symplicity, a web-based job database available to students and graduates.


Continuing Bar Candidate (CBC): The CBC program offered by Thomas Jefferson School of Law demonstrates the school’s commitment to its graduates and their dreams of becoming licensed attorneys. The program is aimed at students who were unsuccessful at their first attempt at the California Bar Exam.


Lawyer Incubator Program: The TJSL Center for Solo Practitioners provides a business incubator setting to the New Solos with the goal of producing successful, public-service-oriented practitioners. Every year, the program will welcome six to ten lawyers who have a desire to establish their own law practices.


Library Privileges: Alumni have access to library materials, use of any of the 16 terminals in the library without having to log in to use the Internet, OnLaw (digital version of all the CEB California secondary sources) access from the campus library, reference librarians to call on for their expertise, remote access to ThomCat (online catalog), admission to mini-classes on sundry legal research tasks and admission to legal research boot camp. Alumni must check-in at the fourth floor circulation desk.


MCLE (Minimum Continuing Legal Education): Thomas Jefferson School of Law is a certified MCLE provider in the State of California. MCLE events occasionally offer a reception which provides an opportunity to network with alumni, faculty and staff.


TJSL Faculty, staff, students, alumni: Interested in hosting an MCLE? Please fill out the MCLE Request Form and send to for approval. Form must be submitted at least 5 weeks prior to event date.


Externship Program: As an alumnus, you can request a student extern at no cost. For more information and to request an extern, please contact the Externships & Pro Bono Programs at


Monthly E-newsletter: Includes the latest school news, class notes, events and networking opportunities.


Events: Receptions, seminars, social events and continuing education classes provide opportunities for graduates to network and have fun. View the Alumni Events Calendar


Free Transcript: The Registrar will provide transcripts at no cost. Please visit the Registrar’s webpage and fill out the Transcript Request Form. If you have any other questions regarding transcripts, please e-mail or call (619) 961-4290.


Audit Classes: Based on availability and approval by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.


Diplomas: Western State University San Diego graduates receive a complimentary TJSL diploma upon request.
