Alison Schlick

Professor Alison Schlick is a practicing attorney at Gurstel Law Firm, P.C., in San Diego, where she focuses on civil litigation and creditors’ rights. She joined the Thomas Jefferson School of Law adjunct faculty after teaching Contracts and Property at Western Sierra Law School in Oceanside, California. Prior to her academic career, Professor Schlick worked in various educational and legal roles, including as an instructional aide for Poway Unified School District and as a writing tutor at UCSD.
As a first-generation law student and single mother, Professor Schlick earned her JD from California Western School of Law while balancing family and work. She served on the board of the Public Interest Law Foundation and was an active member of OWLS, where she connected with other nontraditional law students. Professor Schlick’s commitment to community service extends beyond her law practice, where she serves on the Board of Directors for Zero Waste San Diego and as a member of the San Diego County Air Pollution Control District Hearing Board.
In her spare time, Professor Schlick enjoys engaging with local environmental organizations, advocating for zero waste initiatives, and working toward a cleaner, more sustainable future.
