James Hess

Professor Hess received his B.S. from Cal State San Marcos in 2009 and his J.D. from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 2017. While at Cal State San Marcos, he was a four-year member of the track and field team, competing in pole vault and long jump. At Thomas Jeffereson, he graduated magna cum laude, was a fellow in the Sports Law and Policy program, and twice competed on the baseball arbitration competition team.
Professor Hess is a senior associate at an estate planning firm, handling estate planning, trust administration, and probate. Prior to working in estate planning, Professor Hess worked as an associate at a small family law firm.
In his free time, Professor Hess enjoys spending time with his family (including his dog, Obi), going to San Diego Padres games, and attending live music events.
