The Black Law Students Association (BLSA) wrapped up TJSL’s Diversity Week on March 30, by hosting a “Shadow Day” for 70 students from Lincoln High School and Horace Mann Middle School. The students participated in an open discussion about celebrities who have encountered legal issues and how it affected their lives.
After the discussion the students were placed into groups, where they worked on creating a direct examination questioning for a Mock Trial problem. Each group of students selected two volunteers to play attorney and witness to show off what their group created.
After the Mock Trial presentations, TJSL Admissions Director Tim Spearman presented to the group on diversity and the need for students of different backgrounds in the legal field. The day ended with a question and answer session where the students were given the opportunity to ask about law school and the legal profession.
