Lawyers in Literature: Professor Semeraro to Read Award-Winning Short Story
January 16, 2013
Author, author!
Professor Steve Semeraro will read excerpts from his award-winning short story “The Birds They Sang at the Break of Day” on Wednesday January 23, at 7 p.m. on the 8th floor at a special event “Lawyers in Literature.” Register online.
Based loosely on the life of TJSL alumnus and DUI attorney Eric Ganci ‘08, Professor Semeraro’s story won the first ever Journal of Legal Education Fiction Contest in 2012, sponsored by Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles. The contest was judged by a panel of prominent writers and his story was selected as the best entry from among 129 from writers across the U.S. and several other countries.
“I can’t wait to share the story behind this story with the TJSL community,” said Professor Semeraro. “It’s a love story, a coming of age story, and real success story based on experiences of two TJSL graduates.”
Professor Semeraro’s story will be published in February, so this event is a chance to hear it before the rest of the world!
The event also includes a beer and wine tasting with Associate Dean Eric Mitnick and Professor Semeraro.
Donations are welcome and will to go towards the Alumni Association Art Gift – a mural for the Law Clinic and Sponsorships for Clinical Students.
