May Graduates: Many Careers are Off and Running

Thomas Jefferson School of Law’s May 2013 Class features a number of young graduates whose legal careers are already off and running.  Even before they have taken the bar exam, they are securing great pre-bar positions in law firms, companies and government law offices.

Alexander Leigh is going to be working for the Cohen Law Firm as an associate. The firm represents both retired and active professional athletes in their workers’ compensation claims. They are panel counsel for the NFL Players’ Association and the MLB Players’ Association, and represent athletes in all professional sports.  

Thomas DuMary is working with a high-end real estate company in Los Angeles, Crest Real Estate LLC, as a project coordinator and will become Crest’s legal counsel after he passes the bar.

Sevy Fisher and Brandon Simon got to be best of friends during law school at TJSL.  They graduated together in May.  And now they are going to work together after they take the bar exam in July – at the Simon Law Group, where two of Simon’s brothers are partners. Both are employed at the Los Angeles firm now as law clerks.

Jesse Allen has accepted an offer to be a post-bar law clerk and later an associate attorney with Winet, Patrick, Gayer, Creighton & Hanes, in Vista, CA. There, he will be a litigator, defending local public entities in matters involving personal injury, wrongful termination, and constitutional law, among other issues. 

Lucy Arnold will begin her legal career with the San Diego office of Duane Morris LLP.  Duane Morris LLP, based in Philadelphia, PA, is an AmLaw Top 100 international law firm comprised of more than 750 attorneys in 24 offices across the nation and overseas. Arnold will be an Associate Attorney, joining the Labor & Employment group,and providing transactional (day-to-day advice) support as well as litigation support on client matters

Bryanna Drescher has secured a coveted position with the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office as a post-bar legal research assistant.  Upon passing the California Bar Exam, Drescher will transition to serve as a deputy district attorney.

Najmah Brown will be in the business and legal affairs department of the Al Jazeera America network in Los Angeles.

Jennifer McCollough has accepted a post-graduate judicial clerkship with Judge John D. Love, a U.S. Magistrate Judge with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

Ronald Lin will be an intern at the AllBright law firm in Shanghai, China, where he had the opportunity to visit while participating in TJSL’s Study Abroad Program in China.

Thomas Underhill will be with the Director of Technology Operations at Everyone Counts, Inc. in San Diego, where he’ll do IT, security, compliance, contracts and election law.

James Hassey has been offered three different post-bar positions with law firms, but has chosen to go with the firm of G. Cole Casey, a 1996 TJSL alumnus. Hassey has been interning at the Casey firm.

David Ellis has been selected as a judicial law clerk by Presiding Judge Robert C. Naraja of the Superior Court for the Northern Mariana Islands in Saipan.  Ellis will start in August, after taking the Florida bar exam.

Adam Anderson will be going to Marquis & Aurbach in Las Vegas – this is a large, well-regarded firm there, and we already have some alums there, including Erik Fox ’03, Candice Renka ’08 and Ben Auten.

• Adam Williams will be doing a judicial clerkship with the Nevada Eighth Judicial District in Las Vegas
• Elizabeth Chu will be joining Zeeto Media’s in-house counsel in San Diego
