2023 National Sports Law Negotiation Competition Results

October 23, 2023

Thomas Jefferson School of Law hosted the Thirteenth Annual National Sports Law Negotiation Competition this past weekend. Forty teams from all over the United States and Canada competed in the competition. Each team negotiated two sports-related problems before a panel of judges in the early rounds on Saturday. The top four teams competed on Sunday for the championship.

South Texas College of Law Houston won the competition with teams from Brooklyn Law School and Stetson University College of Law as first and second runners up, respectively. Two Thomas Jefferson School of Law teams competed. Bryan King and Tereza Markova placed 5th, just missing an advance to the final rounds, and Jackson Whitby and Mariah Houston placed 33rd. Both teams were coached by Patricia Letts (2022).

Thank you to all of our judges who volunteered their time to make this event a success. We want to thank our Final Rounds judges in particular: Len Simon, renowned sports lawyer and of counsel at Robbins, Geller, Rudman & Dowd, LLP, and TJSL graduates and sports lawyers Brandon Leopoldus (2010) and Jeremy M. Evans (2011).

Teams compete in the final rounds of negotiation as judge Jeremy Evans and Time Keeper Benjamin Kelly (3L) look on.
