Outdoors Club and Environmental Law Society Took Part in a 5k Run this Past Saturday
November 30, 2013
This past Saturday, November 16, the Outdoors Club and the Environmental Law Society ended the semester with its 5K Fun Run Fundraiser. The run/walk was a great opportunity to bring the Thomas Jefferson community–students, faculty, professors, and alumni–together before heading into finals.
There were over twenty Thomas Jefferson participants, including the Director of Facilities, Dennis Sable, and Professor Cromer Young, who was accompanied by her son. The loop route started at the front doors of Thomas Jefferson and passed the newest addition to East Village, the San Diego Public Library. The route continued to head south, passed Petco Park and the Hilton Bayfront, before it looped through Embarcadero Marina Park South. The route continued further along the harbor, before participants turned around, and headed back to campus, this time without looping the Marina Park.
The Outdoors Club and the Environmental Law Society were excited to organize the event and look forward to organizing future end-of-the-semester 5K, and possible 10K, run/walks. A portion of this semester’s proceeds from the 5K was donated to the Disaster Relief Fund Drive for the victims in the Philippines of the Super Typhoon Haiyan that is being organized by Thomas Jefferson School of Law Alumni and Students.
