Professor Tiefenbrun Publishes Two New Books
March 9, 2012
Thomas Jefferson School of Law Professor Susan Tiefenbrun is proud to announce the publication of two new books, Tax Free Trade Zones of the World and in the United States, and Women’s International and Comparative Human Rights.
“Tax Free Trade Zones of the World and in the United States (Edward Elgar Press, 2012) was a herculean task that I undertook as a favor for one of my esteemed colleagues, William Byrnes, at TJSL,” said Professor Tiefenbrun. “It took many hours of research and writing to uncover information about this important international business vehicle. It was amazing to me and to others that there are actually more than 277 foreign trade zones in the United States and over 500 subzones that work toward stimulating exports. There are more than 3000 tax free trade zones in the world. This book discusses how and why free trade zones stimulate economic growth in the United States, and it describes in detail each of the foreign trade zones in the United States.”
The second books explores in-depth a topic on which Professor Tiefenbrun become one of the world’s leading experts.
“Women’s International and Comparative Human Rights (Carolina Academic Press, 2012) was a labor of love which I undertook in order to raise public awareness about the condition of women and their human rights all over the world,” according to Professor Tiefenbrun. It covers my interest in such controversial issues as human trafficking, the use of child soldiers, the impact on women of the recently signed and ratified Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and female genital mutilation.
